Last week the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, along with the National Legal Foundation and Pacific Justice Institute, filed an amicus brief on behalf of Jack Phillips in the upcoming November Supreme Court case, Masterpiece Cake Shop vs. Colorado.

It is important to understand the question before the court is whether or not the government can force a business owner – an artist – an American citizen – to use their talents to convey a message that goes against their conscience.

Rep. Vicky Hartzler, Rep. Doug Lamborn, and Rep. Jody Hice along with 83 other members of Congress, including many members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, added their names to an amicus brief in favor of freedom of conscience.

Also showing strong support, the Justice Department declared that Jack Phillips should not be coerced into using his talents for something in which he does not believe. “Forcing Phillips to create expression for and participate in a ceremony that violates his sincerely held religious beliefs invades his First Amendment rights,” Acting Solicitor General Jeffrey B. Wall wrote.

Whether you agree with Jack or not, all Americans should want to see a win in this case. Please pray for the court to stand firm on religious freedom.
