FFRF was informed by a concerned parent that students at Westside Elementary School in Jonesboro, Ark., were going to perform in in a Thanksgiving-themed program with music and poetry. Students were sent home with a list of lyrics to memorize including one assigned piece featuring a prayer…”

NM: Pharmacist Seeking Conscience Protections
“The American Civil Liberties Union has sued Walgreens after an Albuquerque, New Mexico, pharmacist declined to sell Misoprostol, a synthetic hormone that is commonly prescribed to treat stomach ulcers but can be used to induce an abortion.”
OK: Freedom From Religion Foundation Shuts Down Christmas Music
From FFRF site: “The Freedom From Religion Foundation has stopped Oklahoma middle school kids from being forced to regularly listen to Christian music during the school day. A concerned parent informed FFRF that teachers at Adair Middle School were playing Christian music during class. One teacher reportedly played KXOJ, the local Christian radio station, any time that students were working on assignments and she wasn’t actively teaching. Another teacher occasionally played Christian music in class and sang along with it.”
“First Liberty Institute and the Center for Religious Expression(CRE) have sent a demand letter to the City of Sweetwater on behalf of their client, Paul Johnson. The letter asks the city to stop using a 25-year-old ordinance to prohibit Johnson from reading from a Bible on a public sidewalk without a permit.”
TX: Supreme Court Won’t Take Case Over Student-Led Prayer
“The Supreme Court is leaving in place a court ruling that a Texas school board can open its meetings with student-led public prayers without running afoul of the Constitution’s prohibition against government-established religion.”
WI: FFRF Demands Religious Promotion Cease
“The Freedom From Religion Foundation is asking a Wisconsin school district to restrain a school board member from promoting his personal religious beliefs at school events. A concerned resident of Appleton, Wis., contacted FFRF to report that local media published an article stating that a member of the Appleton North High School Board, Alvin Dupree, spoke at the high school’s graduation as part of the program. Dupree’s speech promoted Christianity, referring to ‘Jesus Christ.’ Dupree also gave a presentation to a local political party entitled ‘Placing God in the Classroom.'”
