We are seeing a groundswell movement in the United States that once again acknowledges our need for, and dependence on God. In light of recent events around our nation, nothing could be more appropriate than celebrating the 60th Anniversary of our National Motto, “In God We Trust.” Those four words are more important than ever, as we are now standing at a crossroads that will determine the future of this great country.
In their struggle for true freedom, America’s Founders were confronted by the most powerful nation and military force in the world… the mighty English Empire. They needed something that could lead the way. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights did just that, not as chariots and horses, but in their unswerving integration of foundational Judeo-Christian principles that spoke to the guidance needed to secure the blessings and protection of a loving Creator.
It was placing our trust in God Himself that would forge the moral character and backbone to a fledgling nation—now a beacon of hope and freedom to the world for the past 240 years.
Our National Motto has been referenced by Presidents, inscribed on our currency, and is found in the fourth verse of The Star Spangled Banner. God is acknowledged in our Pledge of Allegiance, and has been the source of America’s hope and confidence since its inception.
JULY 30th marks the 60th Anniversary of “In God We Trust” being written into law as America’s National Motto by President Eisenhower. “In God We Trust” is more than just our National Motto — it’s our country’s foundation and part of our core identity as Americans.
