Kudos to the Indiana legislators who successfully ensured that prayer is welcome in Indiana schools!

With House Bill 1024 becoming law, it ensures that a school corporation or charter school will not discriminate against a student or a student’s parent on the basis of a religious viewpoint or religious expression.

Additionally, HB 1024:

• Prevents government from discriminating against students within government run schools because of the student’s faith.
• Protects students from religious discrimination against them in homework, artwork, written and oral assignments, in the clothing they wear to school as well as accessories, jewelry and other items that reflect a religious message or symbolism.
• Protects students from discrimination when they are praying or engaging in religious activities before, during and after school.
  We commend Representative John Bartlett for sponsoring a bill that protects the First Amendment Rights of students. The attacks on faith, especially in public schools, warrant these protections.

Slowly, but surely, we’re seeing the tide turn! Keep fervently praying for your legislators, and continue to encourage them to use the legislative process to safeguard religious freedom in your state.
