Good news from Washington DC — Religious Freedom is advancing and our top officials are the strongest force behind these developments!
Monday, Attorney General Sessions announced a new “Religious Liberty Task Force.” Sessions said the Task Force will help the Department of Justice fully implement the Religious Liberty Guidance it issued last year.
Sessions stated the federal government under the Trump administration is seeking to accommodate people of faith so that “religious Americans are no longer an afterthought.” This is another incredible advancement after almost two decades of diminishing First Amendment Rights, especially at it relates to Freedom of Religion.
Last week Secretary Pompeo hosted the first-ever Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., noting, “The United States advances religious freedom in our foreign policy because it is not exclusively an American right. It is a God-given universal right bestowed on all of mankind.”
The CPCF is thrilled to see the U.S. convene this meeting to promote a unified global solution to egregious religious persecution around the world. Survivors of modern religious persecution launched ministerial week at Holocaust Museum by lighting remembrance candles. Read remarks by Ambassador Brownback here. Several survivors of religious persecution shared their gripping stories.
Secretary Pompeo stated in an op-ed in USA Today, “Countries that champion individual freedoms are often the most secure, economically vibrant, and prosperous in the world. Religious freedom is an indispensable building block of free societies.”
Vice President Pence impressed the audience with his inspirational speech. He has declared that Religious Liberty is a top priority for the United States.
Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback, explained what religious freedom is and why it matters during a Plenary session. Watch more sessions.
The religious liberty landscape is certainly changing for the better. Please take time to thank the White House for ensuring religious freedom endures and advances domestically and internationally.
